Do you want to dance and frolic in the sun?  Come to this year’s Free Summer Concerts in Ketchum.  The three events are “Ketch’em Alive”, “Town Square Tunes”, and “Jazz in the Park”.  You’ll want to bring the whole family.  There will be plenty of food, drink, and music to go around.  If you want to make it a picnic, pack your lunch and bring it along.  Best of all, admission is free!

Officials are now expecting around 900 riders for the cross country, short track cross-country and Super D events.. The nation’s top riders are descending, and will be downhilling, in Sun Valley alongside riders of numerous different age groups and categories.

With an out-and-back loop course that starts and finishes on the grassy field in front of the Sun Valley Lodge in Sun Valley Village, the race takes runners on a clockwise loop around the resort area, including stretches through the Elkhorn Golf Club, the Elkhorn Resort and the neighborhoods and city streets of the nearby town of Ketchum. Throughout the race route, runners follow either paved roads or paved trails and bike paths.

Runners arriving from out-of-town need to be prepared to run a high-elevation race, as the course elevation ranges from about 6,400 feet above sea level at its highest point to about 5,800 feet at its lowest. The race’s toughest stretches — its most challenging hills — occur early in the race, as runners ascend from the starting line area up toward the Elkhorn Village, passing by Dollar Mountain along the way. The course climbs roughly 200 feet in elevation along this stretch, but thankfully is followed by more than three miles of easier, downhill terrain.
